Abstract / samenvatting in Nederlands:

Abstract / summary in English:

This report presents the results of the fourth year of the project "Farm-internal fertilizer optimization", sub-project "Van Strien farm". On several fields soil samples are taken to assess the nitrogen dynamics of cut&carry fertilizers. On plot 1A (potatoes in 2014) the fertilization with cut-and-carry fertilizer resulted in a nitrogen application which was 2,3 times as high as intended, as a result of a much higher dry matter content. However, this did not show in the measured amounts of soil mineral nitrogen, and the potatoes on cut-and-carry fertilizers gave a lower yield compared to the potatoes with the standard fertilization. Because of an early infection with late blight, the foliage had to be destroyed in an early growth stage. It is possible that on the cut-and-carry fertilizers tuber formation in the potatoes was delayed because of the high amounts of nitrogen, and the foliage was destroyed before yield formation had really started. On plot 3 (grassclover in 2014) measurements were stopped when by accident the whole plot was fertilized wit cattle slurry, including the experimental part.
